Most field goals made in 24 Hours: Craig Pinto sets world record (Video)

MINEOLA, NY, USA -- Mineola native and Kicking 4 Celiac Foundation Executive Director Craig Pinto, 33, made 1,000 regulation field goals in a 24 hour period , setting the world record for the most American Football field goals successfully kicked in 24 hours, according to World Record Academy (www.worldrecordacademy.com).

The Guinness world record for the most American Football field goals successfully kicked in 12 hours is 717 and was achieved by Craig Pinto (USA) at the Bethpage Football Field, New York, USA.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the oldest American football player ever to score in the NFL's season finale, set by Indianapolis Colts (USA) placekicker Matt Stover (USA) - aged 42 years 11 days, he struck a 38-yard fieldgoal against the New Orleans Saints (USA) in Super Bowl XLIV.

He was nearly forced to abandon the effort, but Mineola resident Craig Pinto remained true to his task in setting an unofficial world record of kicking 1,000 field goals in 24 hours.

"At one point, I really thought I was injured," the former Hofstra University place kicker said. "It felt like I had something wrong with my knee and we thought we were going to have to stop the event."

His motivation was to gain support for Kicking 4 Celiac Foundation, formed to raise money for scholarships for college students who, like him, suffer from Celiac, a genetic digestive disorder and require gluten-free diets.

Craig is a graduate of NYU and a former professional indoor football player for the New Jersey Revolution Arena football team, where he was also a team captain, from 2008-2010.

Last year he became a 2010 Guinness World Record record holder for most field goals kicked in 12 hours, shattering the mark during a charity event to raise awareness for Celiac Disease by making 717 forty yard field goals.
