  Longest Wiffle Ball Game: New England players set world record

  Norwich, CT, USA -- Eight players from New England (Shane Caveny, Mike Behling, Chris Edwards, Christopher Hill, Robert DeAngelis, Jackie Turro, Core DeAngelis, Tony DeAngelis) over the weekend braved the rain and wind for 25 hours, 4 minutes, 53 seconds, setting the new world record for the Longest Wiffle Ball game, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness world record for the longest marathon playing wiffleball is 24 hr and was achieved by ten players led by Benjamin Brozich (United States), at Northwestern High School, Albion, Pennsylvania, United States.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest marathon playing flag football; it lasted 24 hr and was achieved by the Mercy Project (USA) at Veteran's Park in College Station, Texas, USA.

  After 150 innings, Rutland Country Store Red defeated Rutland Country Store Blue 334 to 251, The Hartford Courant reported.

  This is the second "World Record" event organized by Robert DeAngelis of Rutland Town, VT.

  "We were very worried about the weather," Mr. DeAngelis said. "To comply with Guinness World Records rules, the game had to be continuous. Thunderstorms would have meant cancelling everything. But we were willing to play through the rain, and thankfully that's all we got."

  This event was sponsored by the Rutland Country Store of Rutland Town, VT.
