  Longest marathon playing darts: Lincolnshire players broke Guinness world record (VIDEO)

Helpringham, UK -- Dave Newman and Shaun Robinson played darts continually for 48 hours at at The Nags pub in Helpringham and raised £1,030 for the Waddington Cancer Ward at Lincoln Hospital (where Shaun's mother passed away), setting the new world record for the Longest marathon playing darts, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

Guinness World Records recognized the world record for the longest marathon playing darts (singles): 42 hr 00 min - achieved by Glenn Germonpre and Frederick Serreyn, (both Belgium) at the Cafe de Leegard in Zandvoorde, West Flanders, Belgium.

 The Guinness world record for the longest marathon playing doubles darts lasted 36 hours by Matt Flynn, Billy Sowden, Steven Chapman and Billy Francis (all UK) at the Vyvyan Arms hotel in Camborne, UK.

The men played 483 legs of 501 during the 48 hour period and it was estimated that altogether, they walked a total of 34 miles to the oche and back, notched up 435,666 points, based on if the losing leg was left on 101 and the highest check-out was 125, with the best leg an 18 dart, the Sleaford Standard reported.

  According to This is Lincolnshire, Dave said: "Both of our right arms were swollen when we'd finished and you couldn't even see Shaun's knuckles.

  "It was all mind over matter. I wasn't tired once over the 48 hours and didn't once nearly fall asleep on my breaks. There was just body pain in my legs, feet and arms."

  Dave added: "We had energy drinks and coffee on offer during the 48 hours and snacks.
 "Loud music also kept us going and the constant support from the locals was just outstanding - we had people turning up at 2am."

  For their next challenge the pair plan to break the current doubles darts record which only stands at 36 hours.
