The dedicated group, which also included Orillia-area resident Lauren Grealy and Midland's Michael Foster, bested the previous record (100 hours, three minutes and 25 seconds) set last year in Switzerland.
The Swiss team had beaten the Coldwater club's previous record of 79 hours, 15 minutes and three seconds set in 2014.

To accomplish the feat, the 10 curlers were divided into two five-person teams with four members of each team playing in eight-hour intervals before getting a two-hour break as the fifth player was rotated into the match.

This time around, the event also served as a fundraiser to collect money for the region's ongoing Radio for Cardiology campaign that aims to install a cardiac catheterization lab at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

The Guinness world record for the longest marathon curling is 100 hours, 3 minutes and 25 seconds and was achieved by the SwissCurling Association (Switzerland), in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, from 16 to 20 December 2015. Team Dübendorf and Team Biel/Bienne played against each other during the record attempt.
