The former gymnast said: 'I realised I could do a flip while holding the ball. 'I thought if I could get the angles and timing right, I could beat the world record for the Longest football throw-in .'
The PE teacher from Halifax, West Yorkshire, said: 'When it was confirmed it suddenly hit home,' he told The Sun. 'I can't believe I'm the best in the world at something.'

The married teacher got the idea after watching Stoke player Rory Delap cause chaos to defenders with his ability to launch a football into the penalty box from the sidelines. He said: "I thought, I can do that. Now eat your heart out Rory Delap."

The previous Guinness world record for the Longest football throw-in was set by America's Michael Lochner with a 48.17m throw in 1998. Previously it was held by Tranmere's Dave Challinor who chucked a ball 46.34 metres.
