Longest five-a-side football match: Little League Sports sets world record (Video)

The Guinness world record for the longest five-a-side football marathon is 33 hr 30 min by members of Youghal United AFC (Ireland).
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most consecutive football passes: 557, set by members of the McDonald'sYouth Foootball Scheme, Tsing Yi, Hong Kong, China.
The aim of the organisers was originally to break the existing world record of 35 hours. Coincidentally, at the same time as the Liverpool event, a separate world record breaking attempt was being held in Newcastle- upon-Tyne, which saw the bar raised to 40 hours.
This meant the organisers had to increase their own target to 41 hours, which they did.
The players worked in rotation to keep playing continuously, with some playing for as long as six hours without a break.
They were divided into blue and red teams, with the final score 1022-1072 to the reds.
The players battled through rainy weather and fatigue to reach the target.

Leading the world record breaking attempt were LLS directors Joe Mulhearn and Jordan Wright.
Mr Mulhearn said: "This will help us to raise funds to put on free sporting events for schools. The aim is to reach £30,000.
"The competition to beat that figure added value to the publicity of what we were trying to do. It's an amazing achievement to break the world record – I just hope ours lasts longer than the day which Newcastle held theirs."
