Largest jackpot payout in an online slot machine game: Betway breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)

    LONDON, UK -- A tidy sum of £13,213,838.68 was awarded to Jon Heywood of Cheshire via Microgaming's Mega Moolah online slot; this trumped the previous Guinness World Records world record, which was set in Finland in 2013, by over £13,000, according to the World Record Academy .

 The Guinness World Records' record for the largest jackpot payout in an online slot machine game is €17,879,645 ($20,062,600, £13,209,300), won by Jonathan Heywood (UK), playing Mega Moolah on Betway's website, on 6 October 2015.

    Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest gathering of lottery millionaires ; it is 110 and was achieved by The National Lottery (UK), in London, UK, on 7 October 2015.

    On 6th October, UK player Jon Heywood scooped £13,213,838.68 (approximately €17.9m) while playing Microgaming's Mega Moolah slot on Betway.com. He had deposited a total of £30 and won the jackpot from a 25p bets.

    Betway and software provider Microgaming submitted extensive evidence to Guinness World Records, including ratification from online gaming authority eCOGRA, to prove the jackpot's legitimacy.

    The record will be shared with winner Heywood.

    Betway spokesman Alan Alger said: "Having the record is a great honour, however the main point is that we keep changing the lives of players just like Jon, who won this huge jackpot in minutes and from just a 25p spin."

    Microgaming takes over the World Record title from NetEnt, which had paid out €17.9m in January 2013 to a Paf.com player.
