The Guinness world record for the largest game of basketball knockout consisted of 571 participants and was achieved by VEISHEA (USA), a student organization at Iowa State University, at the Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa, USA.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the fastest knockout on the Boxing game in Wii Sports (Nintendo, 2006); it took just 8 seconds and was achieved by Tim Stoddard (UK).

The participants were predominantly students, but some faculty and members of the community also contributed.

Executive Vice President of Social Affairs for the Student Government Association Louis Phillips put together the event with the help of the administration, the Student Government Association and the Men's Activity Board. Phillips and GCC also partnered with the United Way to raise funds for their charity.

While the event was going on, there was inflatable jousting, bungee run, sumo wrestling, volleyball, bean bag toss, kanjam, a DJ and free food to keep the participants active and engaged throughout the night.

"It was an honor to coordinate an event where hundreds of GCC students could come together to break a world record and support a local charity," Phillips said.

The game of knockout is played on a basketball court. The line of players starts at the free-throw line and the first player takes a shot in hopes of putting through the basket.
If the first player misses, the second player tries to sink his or her shot before the first player does; if the second player succeeds, the first player is out. This continues until one player remains.
