The Guinness world record for the largest kite ever flown has a total lifting area of 950 m² (10,225.7 ft²). The kite measured 25.475 m (83 ft 7 in) long and 40 m (131ft 3 in) wide. The kite was made by Abdulrahman Al Farsi and Faris Al Farsi and flown at the Kuwait Hala Festival in Flag Square, Kuwait City, Kuwait.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest human national flag, organised by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Hong Kong) for the event Flags of Harmony and Unity and involved 21,726 people at the Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground, Hong Kong.

"L'Associació Catalana Pro Senyera més gran del món" with Joan Moreno and Aleix Andreu in command, organized this event.

"Today is a great day for Catalonia, being able to see so many thousands of Catalan people excited with this record fills us with a great satisfaction" said Aleix Andreu.

"Behind this big flag there are some great people, from Catalonia, because without the support of everyone we would have not achieved it" he added.

"The stadium of FC Barcelona has been the best place to achieve this record," said Joan Moreno. "We thank FC Barcelona for having allowed us to make this record in their stadium, and its commitment to Catalan culture" he added.

Technically, the difficulty to make the record was maximum because it was developed in an area with thousands of people.

The cloth of the flag was fireproof grade M0 which means that if someone threw a flare it could not be lit. Also its resistance was very hight, 1 square meter of cloth could withstand a ton of weight.

It was done an engineering project to calculate the entire structure which had to withstand the flight of the flag (with a weight of 1.2 tons approx.), But mainly to support the dangerous effect of sailing in a stadium where there's always a lot of airflow.

"With such -sailing effect- we were afraid that the stadium came out flying" joked Aleix Andreu.

In addition to those who were in the stadium, millions of people saw this performance on television, and the international media covered the event in a worldwide level.
