 Tallest Chocolate Structure: Dubai breaks Guinness World Records' record (VIDEO)

DUBAI, UAE -- Dubai International unveiled a 44.2 feet tall model of the world's tallest skyscraper Burj Khalifa, created by master chocolatier Andrew Farrugia, to coincide with the UAE's 43rd National Day; the chocolate tower, made using 4,200kgs of high quality Belgian chocolate, took Farrugia and his team of 1,050 hours to complete and sets the new world record for the Tallest Chocolate Structure, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

The previous Guinness World Records' record for the tallest chocolate sculpture was a 10-metre-tall (32 ft 9.7 in) Christmas tree created by Patrick Roger (France) in Sceaux, France, on 1 December 2010.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest chocolate fountain; it measures 8 m (26 ft 3 in) tall and circulates 2 tons (4,409 lb) of chocolate at a rate of 120 quarts per minute. It is displayed at the Jean Philippe Pâtisserie (USA) in Bellagio Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

 "We thought it was a great idea to celebrate the National Day with a record breaking feat that travellers passing through Dubai International would be able to appreciate," said Anita Mehra, vice president of Communications & Business Development.

   The chocolate tower, made using 4,200kgs of high quality Belgian chocolate, took Farrugia and his team of 1,050 hours to complete. The tower is located at Concourse A in Terminal 3 and will be on display for two weeks.

   A Maltese artist who specialises in food art, Farrugia has been working in the field of pastry and baking for 32 years.

   Last year in Brussels, Farrugia won a world record for the longest chocolate sculpture , involving a 34-metre-long steam train made entirely from chocolate.
