 Most people cooking simultaneously: Castle Lager broke Guinness world record

CAPE TOWN, South Africa -- Castle Lager hosted simultaneous events in Cape Town, Durban, East London, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Pretoria on 24 September 2013, with the aim of breaking the Guinness World Records' record for the most people cooking the same meal; it successfully achieved its objective with 2353 individuals, setting the new world record for the Most people cooking simultaneously (multiple venues), according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

The Guinness World Records' record for the most people cooking simultaneously (multiple venues) is 2,353 and was achieved by Castle Lager (South Africa), at 5 locations in South Africa.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people cooking simultaneously (single venue); it was 2,311 and was organized by Nodogoshi Nama, Kirin Brewery Company, Limited at the Minna de Takoyaki Dai-Party at Makuhari Messe, in Chiba, Japan.

  The Guinness World Records' record it needed to beat was 2311 people and set and verified on 25 September 2011 in Chiba, Japan.

  The world record attempt was hosted at several braai get-togethers in Cape Town, Durban, East London, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Pretoria with the aim of setting a new world record for the greatest number of people preparing and cooking the same meal, at events held simultaneously at different venues set by a single organisation.

  "We are delighted that we have broken a Guinness World Record, it is indicative of our country's ability to come together and unite in true South African style. We have definitely created history over a braai and our great South African beer in the process," said Alastair Hewitt, GM of Castle Lager and sponsorships at SAB.

  South Africa overachieved with a new wolrd record of 2353 individuals braaing simultaneously.
