Most expensive hot dog: The Brockton Roxs set world record (HD Video)

BOSTON, MA, USA -- The Brockton Rox of the independent Cam-Am League celebrated National Hot Dog Day by unveiling a $80 "K-O Dog," created by On-Field emcee Troy Goodwin and Brockton Rox executive Chef Ben Glanz; it contains mushroom dust, caviar and creme freche topping - setting the new world record for the Most expensive hot dog.

  The previous Guinness world record for the most expensive hot dog is The Foot Long Haute Dog which sells for $69 at Serendipity 3 in New York City.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most expensive omelette commercially available: the Zillion Dollar Lobster Frittata, which costs $1,000 (£528.90) and is featured on the menu at Norma's restaurant, Le Parker Meridien Hotel, New York, USA.

  The 'McCullen Dog' is the newest delight on the menu at American baseball ground Brockton Rox Stadium.

  "We're thrilled that we were able to set this mark," Rox president Mike Canina said.   "Between the new record, the free traditional hot dogs given to the first 1,000 fans through the gates, and appearances by Troy Brown and Ayla Brown, it was a great night to be at Campanelli Stadium."

  The Brockton Rox, a Can-Am League team located in the suburbs of Boston, broke a Guinness World Record by selling a hot dog that costs $80.

  The World's Most Expensive Dog was "deep fried and rolled in truffle oil, then coated with porcini dust, sprinkled with white truffle shavings, and topped with dollops of creme fraiche, caviar and fresh roe. The Most Expensive Hot Dog in The World is served in a blini roll."

  According to the club's food and beverage manager Sander Scotland, the hot dog, is a 'cross of the redneck meets the rich and famous.

  The World's Most Expensive Hot Dog will be on sale at the concession stands throughout the 2011 season.
