  Longest Tasting Menu: Redhill company breaks Guinness world record

LONDON, UK -- June Carrie and Simon from Unearthed, a branch of Redhill based Winterbotham Darby, ate 193 bite-sized courses from all round the globe; the menu covers drinks, starters, mains and desserts – both hot and cold; they ate them all AND managed to stay awake – even though the challenge lasted for an insomnia-esque 24 hours, setting the world record for the Longest Tasting Menu, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

 The Guinness world record for the largest menu consists of 1810 different items achieved by the restaurant Mofarguru (Hun) in Budapest, Hungary since 1 October 2005.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Largest collection of menus, set by Harley Spiller, New-York (USA), who has been collecting restaurant menus since 1981, and has accumulated 5,006 Chinese menus from all 50 U.S. states and from 80 foreign countries.

  On Thursday 13th June Carrie and Simon from unearthed® ate 193 bite-sized courses from all round the globe.

  The World's Longest Tasing Menu covers drinks, starters, mains and desserts – both hot and cold.

  The tasting menu featured some of the most unique dishes from around the globe, including meat gutab from Azerbaijan, grasshoppers from The Congo, Durian fruit from Malaysia and birds milk from Romania.

  They ate them all AND managed to stay awake – even though the challenge lasted for an insomnia-esque 24 hours!

  The good news though was that they weren't alone. Throughout the duration they were joined by colleagues, suppliers and journalists – all keen to eat and be part of it too.  

   Simon Day, Brand Manager at unearthed, comments: "There are so many exciting and unusual ingredients in the world that many people haven't had the opportunity to try.

 "The idea behind the 193 tasting menu is to help people unearth exotic new tastes from Spain to Australia without stepping on a plane and to encourage more experimentation with new flavours and cuisines in kitchens across the UK."
