The Guinness World Records' record for the longest spring roll measured 500 m (1,640 ft 5 in) and was made in an event organised by APOT.Asia (Australia), in Da Nang, Vietnam, on 5 June 2014.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest cake roll; it is 140.62 m (461 ft 4 in) and was created by Izumigaoka World Record Challenge Project (Japan) at Izumigaoka station fountain square in Sakai, Osaka, Japan on 8 November 2014.

More than 600 people worked together to make the spring roll in June last year on the beach at Hyatt Regency Hotel. It took from early morning until noon.

They made it from 250kg of chicken and prawn, 200kg of fresh rice vermicelli, 50kg of rice paper, escarole lettuce and mint leaves. It weighed 500kg and measured 500m in length.

The Guiness World Records also recognised the spring roll for its length, and the Viet Nam Records organisation recognised the dish as a country specialty.

This feat was accomplished under the aegis of Asia Pacific Onboard Travel (APOT), on the Da Nang beach.
APOT.asia (Asia Pacific On-board Travel) is a non-profit organization of the Airline industry in the Asia Pacific region. Its mission is to improve the quality of flight services through exchanges, regular dialogues and by organising events to enhance the reputation of the region.

"APOT would not have reached this great achievement without all members and local community's support," said Keerthi "HappyK" Hapugasdeniya of HappyK Solutions in Australia, one of the chief organizers behind the effort.

Caterers in Vietnam also assisted in achieving the world record by providing ingredients. The elbow grease to make the spring rolls was supplied by students in Da Nang schools and a few APOT delegates who worked against time and rapidly rising temperatures.

In the end, 500 meters of spring roll was donated to local hospitals.
