 Longest Picnic Table: Hellmann's breaks Guinness world record (VIDEO)

NEW YORK, NY, USA -- Hellmann's is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and to commemorate the occasion, the company, which is famous for its mayonnaise products, hosted an event to break the Guinness World Records' record for the world's longest picnic table; the picnic table measured 320 feet in length, setting the new world record for the Longest picnic table, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

The Guinness World Records' record for the largest picnic was set by 22,232 people and was organized by Realizar Impact Marketing and Modelo (Portugal), at the Parque da Bela Vista, in Lisbon, Portugal.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest picnic line, which measures 2, 277 metres (7, 470 ft 4 in) and was organised by the City of Kitchener: as part of the Centennial Celebration of Cityhood in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, on 15 July 2012.

  Hellmann's is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and to commemorate the occasion, the company, which is famous for its mayonnaise products, hosted an event to break the Guinness World Record for the world's longest picnic table on Sept. 24.

  The previous Guinness World record that Hellmann's broke was 305 feet and 3 inches and the table that broke the record measured 320 feet and 2 inches.

  The event, which took place in the Hudson River Park's Pier 84 in New York City, featured celebrity chefs Aarón Sánchez, Mario Batali and Tim Love.

  The World's longest picnic table measured 320 feet in length and was decorated with fresh flowers encased in empty Hellmann's mayonnaise bottles.

  The table was constructed from solid, pine wood, weighted approximately 8,000 pounds and was longer than a football field.

  The 400+ guests were given a picnic basket with a mini slider, potato salad, pasta salad, corn on the cob and Magnolia Bakery's chocolate mayonnaise cupcakes at the Feeding America event, sponsored by Hellmann's mayonnaise.
