Longest Iftar table: Sharjah breaks Guinness world record (VIDEO)

Sharjah, UAE -- The world's longest iftar table measured 1.003km in length and was laid out near the picturesque Al Noor Mosque on Al-Buhaira Corniche walkway in Sharjah, during an event named the "Joy of Giving", according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

 The Guinness world record for the longest table measured 301 m (987 ft 6.36 in) and was achieved by Kellogg's Middle East & Africa, in Dubai Marina, Dubai, UAE.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest table cloth; it measured 1,763 m (5,784 ft 1 in) in length and was created by a group known as "Gli Amici dell'Aia" (Italy) and laid out along via Romana and via Della Noce between the towns of Albinea and Scandiano, Italy.

  The Sharjah Ramadan Festival this year covers a wide range of areas and 15 activities including social, religious and cultural heritage and sports events celebrating the values, principles and customs and traditions of the Emirati society.

  Khalid Jasim Al-Midfa, director-general of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority said that Sharjah counts on its reputation as a perfect family tourism destination, attracting more families this time of the year because of discounted hotel room rates and Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr once again coinciding with the summer holiday season.
