  Largest Raviolo: Volgograd breaks Guinness World Records' record


VOLGOGRAD, Russia -- An Italian restaurant in Volgograd (Mario cafe) has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for cooking the largest round piece of ravioli ever made, coming in at a whopping 109 centimeters in diameter; the World's Largest Raviolo dough required 4 kilograms of flour, 40 eggs, and two cups of olive oil to make, while 2.3 kilograms of ricotta cheese and 4.5 kilograms of spinach were used for the filling,

The Guinness World Records' record for the longest ravioli measures 29.28 m (96 ft 1 in) and was achieved by Amway Russia (Russia) in St Petersburg, Russia, on 3 August 2013.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest bowl of pasta; it weighed 6,253 kg (13,786 lb) and was made by Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant (USA), at the chain's Anaheim restaurant, Garden Grove, California, USA.

  Ravioli (plural; singular: raviolo) are a traditional type of Italian cuisine. They are a type of filled pasta (dumpling), and are composed of a filling sealed between two layers of thin egg pasta dough and are served either in broth or with a pasta sauce.

  Ravioli are commonly square, though other shapes are well known, including circular or semi-circular (mezzelune).

  The raviolo dough required 4 kilograms of flour, 40 eggs, and two cups of olive oil to make, while 2.3 kilograms of ricotta cheese and 4.5 kilograms of spinach were used for the filling, local news website V1 reported.

  The round pasta dish took 40 minutes to cook and was prepared in celebration of Volgograd's City Day, the report said. About 1,000 people turned up to watch the bake-off, and the product was shared out between the spectators at the end.
