The Guinness world record for the most pizzas made in one hour by a team is 837 and was achieved by staff from Domino's Pizza Australia and New Zealand at the Domino's Pizza store in Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest collection of pizza-related items; it belongs to Brian Dwyer (USA) with 561 different items from all over the world, as of 31 July 2011, which he has been collecting since 2010.

The 12-inch pizzas were made by Great Kitchens, Inc. in Illinois with some donated ingredients or funded by various donors.

Pizza 4 Patriots sent the 12-inch Great Kitchens pizzas to service members in Kandahar, Bagram and Camp Bastion in celebration of Independence Day.

DHL donated its services and loaded the pizza shipments at a service center in Chicago.

The pizza delivery was funded through donations to Pizza 4 Patriots.

Ian Clough, CEO of DHL Express U.S. , said he was grateful to Pizza 4 Patriots and proud of DHL's "dedicated employees."

Ken Allen, CEO, DHL Express , said: "Being credited in the Book of World Records represents a very proud moment for all 100,000 employees of DHL Express worldwide.
"We're very grateful to Pizzas 4 Patriots for giving us this opportunity to showcase the capabilities of DHL's global network and the 'can do' spirit of our international specialists."

The delivery process involved packing 30,000 ready-to-bake pizzas weighing over 23 tons onto a Boeing 777 freighter and transporting them from the DHL Express Americas hub in Cincinnati to the DHL Express air hub in Bahrain. From there, the massive shipment was on-forwarded by DHL to the U.S. military's operational bases in Afghanistan in time for U.S. Independence Day celebrations on July 4.

In order to maintain the quality of the pizzas, a perishable product, during transit, they were packed in 11 tons of dry ice. DHL Quality Control Centers closely monitored the consignment throughout the journey.

"Feedback from U.S. troops who received the care packages has been heartwarming as they truly appreciate the recognition for their valuable service," Clough said in a statement.
