  Largest haggis: Hall's of Scotland breaks Guinness World Records' record (VIDEO)

North Berwick, UK -- The haggis made and cooked at Hall's in North Berwick tipped the scales at 1.01 ton, or 2227lbs - a whopping 993lbs heavier than the previous Guinness World Records' record; measuring more than 2.5m long, 1m wide and a metre high, the haggis sets the new world record for the Largest Haggis, according to the World Record Academy.

The Guinness World Records' record for the largest haggis weighed 1,010 kg (2,226 lb 10 oz) and was made by Hall's of Scotland (UK) at Fenton Barns, North Berwick, UK.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest packaged food mosaic; it measured 24.7 m (81 ft 0.44 in) in length, 38.6 m (126 ft 7.68 in) in width, and was achieved by Sharp MEA FZE, in Dubai World Trade Center, Dubai, UAE.

  Measuring more than 2.5m long, 1m wide and a metre high, the recipe included 750lbs of oats and almost 90lbs of onions.

   The previous Guinness World Records' record for the largest haggis was held by the Machline Burns Club, who cooked up a 1234lbs pudding on May 23, 2009.

   The Largest Haggis in the World, which took 25 and a half hours to cook, will be sold in individual portions to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and a selection of children's charities.

  Wayne Godfrey, CEO of Browns Food Group, who owns Hall's, said: "2014 is the Official Year of the Haggis and so we thought this was the perfect occasion to reclaim the Guinness World Record title that was first held by Hall's over 30 years ago.   We knew we were aiming for a very ambitious size and weight and so everyone at Hall's is thrilled we pulled it off, reclaiming the title – and beating the previous record by such a significant amount."
