 Largest canned food structure: Can combine sets world record (HD Videos)

OLATHE, Kansas -- John Deere's Project "Can Do" created a full-sized combine made entirely from food – 308,448 cans of food and 11,268 bags of food to be exact; the combine can-food sculpture, which is 60 feet wide, 80 feet long and 16 feet tall and weighs approximately 170 tons - setting the new world record for the Largest canned food structure, according to World Record Academy (www.worldrecordacademy.com).

  The world-record can-food sculpture was built by a team of 450 John Deere volunteers including employees, retirees, employee families and friends.

  The Guinness world record for the largest canned food structure consisted of 247,580 cans and was achieved by the Architecture Students of Chulalongkorn University and the Food Industry Network Co.,Ltd. (both Thailand).

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest food mosaic; it measures 20.7 m (67 ft) in length, 30.9 m (101 ft) in width, and was created in an event organised by CLP Power HK Ltd, in Hong Kong, China .

The World's Largest Canned Food Structure took more than 1800 hours to build and contains more than 15 different kinds of canned food. In addition to the cans of food, the sculpture contains 11,268 bags of popcorn, peas and beans.

  The World's Largest Canned Food Structure depicts John Deere's new S-690 Combine, which is the world's most powerful combine that can harvest more than 350 acres of grain a day.

  The Largest canned food sculpture in the world was on display at the John Deere Pavilion in Moline, Illinois, until December 12 when it was dismantled and all the food was donated to River Bend Foodbank. River Bend serves families in the Quad Cities and 22 counties in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois.
