  Largest cake-walk dance: South Salem residents set world record (VIDEO)

SALEM, OR, USA -- 259 South Salem community members gathered in Woodmansee Park in South Salem for a cake walk, setting the world record for the Largest cake-walk dance, while collecting donations for the Marion-Polk Food Share, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness world record for the largest box of doughnuts is a Krispy Kreme box weighing 135 kg (297 lb 10 oz) and was produced by The Kuwait Food Co. Americana (Kuwait), in Kuwait, Kuwait.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest chocolate fountain: it measures 8 m (26 ft 3 in) tall and circulates 2 tons (4,409 lb) of chocolate at a rate of 120 quarts per minute. It is displayed at the Jean Philippe Pâtisserie (USA) in Bellagio Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

  "It was the second attempt — last year's failed effort also coincided with National Night Out — that Bobbie Concepcion organized to help neighbors get to know each other and bring notoriety to their neck of the woods," The Statesman Journal reported.

  The cake-walk dance was also the neighborhood's version of National Night Out. The national group believes bringing residents together to mingle helps make their neighborhoods safer because of it.

  This year marked the 29th anniversary of NNO, an event which attracts participation in more than 15,325 communities across 50 states, Canada and U.S. military bases.

  Participants were happy to be a part of it, and didn't seem to mind the requirement that the 259 people walk in a circle for five minutes.

   Last year attendance fell short, but this year community support rallied and made it happen. Donations were gathered for the Marion-Polk Food Share and donated cakes and some prizes were awarded to lucky winners," Who Did Good Today reported.
