Largest Hamburger: Alameda County Fair sets world record (Video)

Pleasanton, Alameda County, CA, USA -- The giant hamburger grilled at the Alameda County Fair by Brett Enright of Phoenix and Nick Nicora, co-owner of Ovation Food Services, weighed in at 777 pounds with all the trimmings - setting the new world record for the Largest Hamburger commercially available .

The Guinness world record for the largest hamburger commercially available weighs 267.62 kg (590 lb).

Guinness World Records also recognized the most expensive hamburger commercially available: THE Burger, available on the menu of Burger King (UK) for £95 (US$186).

The World's Largest Hamburger was five feet in diameter and three feet thick — a whole cow's worth of beef.
The lettuce on top weighed 50 pounds, plus 12 pounds of pickles and 50 pounds of onions.
The bun, baked for six hours by Athens Baking Co. out of Fresno, weighed 272 pounds and was 28 inches thick.

A crew of 10 people spent 13 hours cooking the giant burger patty on the world's largest barbecue, owned by Juicys Outlaw BBQ, a mobile food and beverage company that serves large events.
The grill is mounted on an 18-wheel, 72,000-pound truck.

Fairgoers were able to purchase bites of the burger for 99 cents, with proceeds going to the Alameda County Community Food Bank.

A requirement for the burger to win was that it had to be eaten by the public afterward — and it was. Hundreds lined up to get a taste of history for 99 cents a bite.   Many had skipped dinner in favor of the world's most awesome burger.

Brett Enright of Phoenix came up with the idea in December, his month off from his day job as chief executive officer of Juicys traveling barbecue catering service.
He contacted Nick Nicora, co-owner of Ovation Food Services in Pleasanton, and they teamed up for the record-breaking burger burn at the county fair

"It was a wonderful event shared by the community," said April Mitchell, event and marketing manager for the fair.

The burger was expected to be 1,375,000 calories, which is enough to feed one person for about 22.5 months.

Fair spokesperson April Mitchell said about 500 people bought bites, and by the end of the night, half of the monster burger was gone.
If anyone wants to buy a burger like this, all he or she has to do is give 48 hours' notice and pay Juicy's $5,000.
