  Largest Funnel Cake: Funnelicious sets world record

GREENVILLE, SC, USA -- Downtown's smallest restaurant, Funnelicious, (owner Mike Pennington) is now serving a giant funnel cake; measured to be 17 inches in diameter and served in a large pizza box to accommodate its generous size, it also sets the new world record for the Largest Funnel Cake, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness world record for the largest ice cream cake weighed 10.13 tonnes (22,333.6 lb) and was achieved by Dairy Queen Canada at Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest line of cakes; it measured 571.5 m (1,875 ft) and was achieved by Ricca's Italian Bakery (USA) in Hammonton, New Jersey, USA.

  Mike Pennington, owner of Funnelicious , is the mastermind behind this giant fried creation and proudly offers it on his menu with the name of the "Mega Danny Cake."

  The cake is measured to be 17 inches in diameter and is served in a large pizza box to accommodate its generous size.

  University of South Carolina MGMT 479 students assisted Pennington on the project.

 "We have done a lot of research on how the record process," Pennington said.

 "We know we have the largest funnel cake out there and we think this is unique enough for the record books."

Funnelicious is located at 155 Augusta Street across the street from the Flour Field and is open seven days a week. Along with in-house dining and the world's largest funnel cake, they also offer customized catering and party space rental.
