Hottest Pie: Ron Bruns of Bremen Patisserie set world record

Umina Beach, NSW, Australia -- Ron Bruns of Bremen Patisserie, Umina Beach, has relaunched his "Flaming Ron" pie, adding a new degree of heat by the Trinidad Scorpian Butch T , (the new world's hottest chilli ) , setting the world record for the Hottest Pie.

The Guinness world record for the largest mince pie recorded was one of 1.02 tonnes (2,260 lb) and baked at Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, UK.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest potato pie: it weighed 5.37 tonnes (11,858 lb) and was made by the District Municipality of Carmen de la Legua Reynoso.

  "People must sign a waiver before they eat it. We never sell them just for the sake of it."

  "When we are cooking it and people come in the shop, often they will start coughing because even the vapours are very potent," Mrs Bruns said.

  Mr Bruns and his wife Helga are the new World Record holders for the world's hottest pie.

 "We can't think of anywhere else in the world that would beat our pie," Mr Bruns told The Express Advocate Wyong edition.

  "Often when we tell people we have the hottest pie in the world they don't believe us which can cause problems, especially for those who try it. It would be great to officially be able to say it is."

  "We had a range of different people come in to try it and regardless of the heat, many said that it had a good flavour to it," Mr Bruns said.
