The Guinness World Records' record for the highest restaurant from ground level is At.mosphere , situated at a height of 441.3 metres (1,447ft 10 in) and located on Level 122 in Burj Khalifa, in Dubai, UAE, developed by Emaar Properties PJSC and officially opened in Dubai, UAE, on 23 January 2011.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest restaurant; it is the Bawabet Dimashq Restaurant (Damascus Gate Restaurant) which has 6,014 seats. The restaurant is owned by Mr. Shaker Al Samman in Damascus, Syria. The total floor area of the restaurant is 20000 m(215277.35 ft).

The world's first Hello Kitty fine dining restaurant is set to open on June 1 in Hong Kong, but has already had a 'soft launch'.

While there are already cafes inspired by the cat in Adelaide, Australia, and Orange County, California, this is the first restaurant that will feature Chinese food on the menu.

All 37 items on the menu, including the dim sum, are shaped like Hello Kitty. The lampshades, chairs and tableware all feature that adorable cat face with no mouth.

The menu includes prawn dumplings, steamed buns, sponge cakes and lotus paste buns. Every item had to be pre-approved by Sanrio, the Japanese company which holds the Hello Kitty copyright.

Hello Kitty was launched by the Japanese company Sanrio in 1974, and quickly became a staple of the country's cute or 'kawaii' culture. The character is now a global franchise worth around £4.4billion, appearing on everything from stationery to bank cards and planes.

There are a number of eateries inspired by Hello Kitty in countries including Australia, the US and South Korea. In Taiwan, there is even a Hello Kitty-themed maternity hospital, complete with branded towels and nurse's uniforms.
