 Fastest preparation of an omelette: Andrew Robertson breaks Guinness world record

CAPE TOWN, South Africa -- By making a two-egg omelette in 25.24 seconds during an event called "Omelettes Without Borders," held at the Drakensberg Sun, Andrew Robertson, executive chef at the Drakensberg Sun, beat the Guinness World Records' record of 49 seconds - and raised R30000 for the under-resourced Drakensberg Bergsig School, while setting the new world record for the Fastest preparation of an omelette, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

 The Guinness World Records' record for the largest omelette weighed 6.466 tonnes (14,225 lb 6 oz) and was achieved by the Câmara Municipal de Ferreira do Zêzere (Ferreira do Zêzere City Council, Portugal) in Santarém, Portugal.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most expensive omelette commercially available, set by the Zillion Dollar Lobster Frittata which costs $1,000 (£528.90) and is featured on the menu at Norma's restaurant, Le Parker Meridien Hotel, New York, USA.

  In the weeks of practice before the record-breaking attempt, Robertson - who is "crazy" according to his boss - used 5000 eggs. All the food made was donated to schools near the hotel.

  His cooking was judged by an official timer from Swimming SA, a lawyer and another professional chef, the Times LIVE reported.

  After Omelettes Without Borders was over, Robertson took Senior to the Drakensberg Sun's presidential suite, which was filled with roses, and asked his girlfriend to marry him.
   She said "YES!"
