Jackson sets world record
LOS ANGELES, USA -- After releasing, during
his extraordinary career 13 No.1 singles — more than any other
male artist in the Hot 100 era — and became one of a handful
of artists to be inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame, selling an estimated 750 million records worldwide, Michael Jackson
sets the world record for the Most
Successful Entertainer of All Time

His awards include multiple Guinness World Records
(eight in 2006 alone), 13 Grammy Awards, 13 number one singles
in his solo career — more than any other male artist in the
Hot 100 era — and the sale of over 750 million records worldwide,
making him the world's Most
Successful Entertainer of All Time
.
His album "Thriller" is the Biggest Selling Album
of All Time.
Five of Jackson's solo albums – "Off the Wall,"
"Thriller," "Bad," "Dangerous" and "HIStory," all with Epic
Records, a Sony Music label – are among the top-sellers of
all time.
Jackson
won 13 Grammy Awards and received the American Music Award's
Artist of the Century Award.
Jackson donated and raised millions of dollars
for beneficial causes through his foundation, charity singles
and support of 39 charities.
On May 14, 1984, Jackson was invited to
the White House to receive an award presented by U.S. President
Ronald Reagan. The award was given for Jackson's support of
charities that helped people overcome alcohol and drug abuse.
President George H. W. Bush also presented
the singer with The White House's special "Artist of the Decade"
award in recognition of Jackson's musical influence in the
1980s; Bush commended Jackson for acquiring a "tremendous
following" among other achievements.
Michael Jackson started in the music
business at the age of 11 with his brothers as a member of
the Jackson 5. In the early 1980s, he defined the art form
of music video with such ground-breaking videos as "Billie
Jean," "Beat It" and the epic "Thriller." Jackson's sound,
style and dance moves inspired subsequent generations of pop,
soul, R&B and hip-hop artists.
