The Guinness world record for the most people in a beer race (also called a boat race) is 1,328, in an event organised by the NPO Student Kick-Off at the Sint-Pieterplein, Ghent, Belgium.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest virtual beer festival; it takes place within World of Warcraft. Once a year the warring factions of the Horde and the Alliance put down their arms and get together for 'Brewfest', the virtual homage to the Bavarian Oktoberfest. Like the real-world festival, this lasts for a couple of weeks and features the best (virtual) beers.

The world's strongest beer then undergoes a process called freeze fermenting, which is done by drastically lowering the temperature and repeatedly removing the first part to freeze, leaving behind only the richest alcohol content.

To help put this into perspective, beers consumed in the U.S. average between 4 to 10 percent ABV, depending on the brand.

"The World's Strongest Beer has a viscous quality to it, due to the special freeze fermentation method we use to produce such a high alcoholic beer," production director of Brewmeister, John Mackenzie said.

Brewmeister's advises its customers to "consume this like a fine whisky."

"Despite being 65%, the beer has a lot of flavor-malty, hoppy, slightly sweet and lots of yeast still in the beer. Be careful though, smelling it is probably enough to put you over the limit!"

Mackenzie said the beer "has a viscous quality to it."

"The phrase delivers a punch doesn't quite cut it - delivers a supersonic charged explosion is probably more appropriate!" the founder and co-director of the brewery Lewis Shand said.

Brewers have been trying to outdo each other to create an ever-increasingly powerful beer.

First, Scotland's Brewdog produced ' Tactical Nuclear Penguin ' at 32 percent.   That was topped by German-based Schorsbrau, which released Schorschbock at 40 percent, only for Brewdog to retaliate with 'Sink the Bismarck' at 41 percent.   Brewdog then made The End of History, a blond Belgian ale at an astonishing 55 percent packaged in a nifty case made from stuffed animals, including stoats and squirrels.
