The Guinness World Records' record for the most champagne bottles sabered in one minute is 47, achieved by Mirko Rainer (South Tyrol) in Mendrisio, Switzerland, on 6 September 2014.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most champagne bottles sabered simultaneously; it was achieved by 277 participants in an event organised by Centro Empresarial e Cultural de Garibaldi (Brazil) in Garibaldi, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, on 5 October 2013.

The Coral House in Baldwin has broken a Guinness World Records' world record for the most champagne bottles opened with a sabre.

General Manager Frank Esposito opened 50 bottles in less than a minute. The previous Guinness World Records' record was 47 bottles.

"I don't really know how I picked this up," Esposito said. "I guess it started when I was a kid, popping open bottles for fun."

"Sabrage" is a technique used to open Champagne by holding the bottle at an angle and sliding a sabre (sword) up the neck enough to slice off the collar and cork. The method was particularly popular during the Napoleonic wars.
