y.
The previous Guinness world record for theLargest Wine Flutewas 16.5 l (3.63 gal) and was presented by Fede&Tinto in Vini nel Mondo 2008, in Spoleto, Umbria, Italy.
Guinness World Records also recognized thelargest wine glass, which measured 2.40 m (7.87 ft) in height and 1.65 m (5.41 ft) at its widest point and was achieved by Eventions s.a.r.l (Lebanon) in Beirut, Lebanon.
TheWorld's Largest Bottle of Winerecognized by Guinness World Records measured 2.6 m (8 ft 6.36 in) tall and 0.62 m (2 ft 0.41 in) in diameter and was achieved by Pro Loco Dolegna del Collio in Dolegna del Collio, Italy.
"The record is there so why can't we have it, why does it have to be someone else," said Ed Madronich, chairman of the Wine Council of Ontario.
"For us it's very symbolic. We make great wine and historically we have always compared ourselves to other wine regions. The fact that we can break a Guinness World Record means that we can be the best here in Ontario."
Acorporate adjudications manager with Guinness World Records was on hand to witness and verify the record.
"Getting a glass that size is the trick," said Ziraldo, noting it had to be specially made for the occasion. Two were made just in case one broke.
