The 1,000-litre (264-gallon) All Canadian Blueberry Smoothie was made up of 550 litres of 100% Canadian milk, 300 kg of frozen Canadian blueberries, 150 litres of Canadian vanilla yogurt and 35 litres of Canadian honey.
The World's Largest Smoothie was blended together in a giant 1,200-litre stainless steel bolt tank by a team of leading Canadian dairy producers.
"Setting a new World Record with the All Canadian Blueberry Smoothie is a wonderful way to celebrate our Canadian dairy producers and the purity, high quality and great taste of dairy products made from 100% Canadian milk,” said Jacques Laforge, president of Dairy Farmers of Canada.
The much publicized smoothie was free to all who wanted.
The new World's Largest Smoothie beat out the previous Guinness World Record holder by about 90 gallons. The previous Guinness world record was a 681-litre concoction of banana, strawberries, sorbet, ice and fruit juice, made July 22, 2006 by Booster Juice in London, Ont.
To help commemorate breaking the World Record for the world’s largest smoothie , Dairy Farmers of Canada partnered with Canadian processors from across the country. MOOV, a Quebec based company provided blueberries from Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, the honey was provided by Honey Bunny, a company from Alberta, and the milk and yogurt were provided by Parmalat in Ontario. Ontario’s Moonstone Mechanical provided the giant mixing tank.
