  Largest round of beer: Box Steam Brewery breaks Guinness World Records record

   LONDON, UK -- A world record was set at Avoncliff's Cross Guns pub when Holt's brewery bought the largest round of beer; between noon and 2pm, Box Steam Brewery ordered 412 drinks for assembled guests including the Mayor of Trowbridge, Councillor Linda Self, thus setting the new world record for the Largest round of beer, according to the World Record Academy .

Over a two-hour period a team of five bar staff, pulled pumps and tapped four, nine gallon casks to ensure more than 400 people enjoyed a drink at their expense to mark the Queen's 90th birthday.

The Guinness World Records world record for the largest beer tasting consisted of 1,236 participants and was achieved by The Publican Awards (UK), in London, UK, on 15 March 2016.

     Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest glass of beer contained 2,082 litres (457.99 gal, 550 US gal) of Stod Fold Gold and was produced by Angus Wood and Ed Dupuy of Stod Fold Brewing Company (all UK), in Halifax, UK, on 6 July 2014. The glass measured 2.23 m (7 ft 4 in) tall with a diameter of 1.12 m (3 ft 8 in).


   The Box Steam Brewerybought 412 drinks at the Cross Guns pub in Wiltshire over a two hour period, which included 283 pints (35.4 imperial) gallons of its Tunnel Vision ale.

    The previous Guinness World Records world record was held by US country singer Merle Haggard, who on 21 March 1983 bought his fans 5,095 one-ounce drinks totalling 39.8 US (33.1 imperial) gallons at a cost of US$12,737.50 (£8,975) at Billy Bob's Texas in Fort Worth, USA.  

    Over a two-hour period a team of five bar staff, including landlady Annette Robertsand husband and brewery owner Andy, pulled pumps and tapped four, nine gallon casks to ensure more than 400 people enjoyed a drink at their expense to mark the Queen's 90th birthday, the Gazette & Herald reports.

Andy Roberts, MD of Box Steam Brewery , said: "We wanted to mark the occasion of Her Majesty's special day in the way we know best. It was our pleasure to extend our hospitality to friends and neighbours."

Merle Haggardlanded in the Guinness Book of World Records after he ordered the largest round of drinks ever (5,095 one-ounce drinks, which added up to 40 gallons overall, to the tune of $12,737.50).

    Mr Roberts added: "Our bar bill was not as big as Mr Haggard's, but we think we can claim to have bought the world's biggest round of beers, that is for sure."
