  Largest pub crawl: Kansas City breaks Guinness  world record

KANSAS CITY, Mo., USA -- Nearly 5,000 participants visited at least ten pubs during an event organized by Crawl for Cancer, a group that organizes the charity events in cities across the country; the crawl had 4,885 participants, which broke the Guinness world record of 4,718 that had stood in Australia for about four years and set the new world record for the Largest pub crawl, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

 The Guinness world record for the largest pub crawl involved 4,885 participants who visited 10 pubs in Kansas City's Power and Light District, Missouri, USA, during an event organised by the Crawl for Cancer LLC.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most pubs visited in 24 hours; it is 250 and was achieved by a team of 13 organised by Chris Solarz and Ivan Wanat (both USA) in New York, New York, USA, from 3-4 September 2011.

   Crawlers had a choice of 21 different participating establishments they could attend in their record-breaking evening.

   Organizers had to ensure each participant drank a half-liter of any beverage, regardless of whether it was alcoholic or not, in at least 10 different pubs. Also, crawlers had to complete the entire feat within eight hours.

   The costume-clad participants were only allowed to walk or use public transportation to get from place to place, the KSHB TV reports.

  The crawl had 4,885 participants, which broke the Guinness world record of 4,718 that had stood in Australia for about four years.

  The event raised more than $100,000 for Kansas City area cancer charities.
