  Largest beer tasting event: Manchester's Oast House breaks Guinness world record

Manchester, UK -- A total of 322 ale lovers headed down to the courtyard outside the Oast House on Spinningfields and were taken through three separate beer tastings to break the previous Guinness World Records' record of 267 participants held by the Biergilde BNB in Arcen, Netherlands for the largest-ever beer tasting event, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

 The previous Guinness World Records' record for the largest beer tasting involved 267 participants and was organised by Biergilde BNB (Netherlands) in Arcen, Netherlands, on 24 October 2010.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest collection of beer bottles belongs to Ron Werner (USA) and consists of 25,866 individual beer bottles as of 27 January 2012 in Carnation, Washington, USA.

  After all 322 revellers had tasted three different beers – a West Coast IPA, Arizona ale and the aptly-named Wobbly Bob – the results were in.

  Master of ceremonies was beer guru Warren McCoubrey who talked thirsty contenders through three samples from The Oast House's beer selection.

  "The three beers sampled came from local brewers Phoenix Brewery and were West Cost IPA, Arizona, Wobbly Bob. Curiously for the Guinness world record attempt Guinness wasn't used," the Manchester Confidential reported.

  "Phoenix ales are better anyway."
