Largest collection of pull tabs from aluminum cans: Todd Mannebach sets world record
Des Moines, IA, USA -- Todd Mannebach, 47, is working to help the Ronald
McDonald House of Des Moines; he has amassed more than 22 million pull tabs from aluminum cans , setting the world record for the Largest collection of pull tabs from aluminium cans, according to World Record Academy (www.worldrecordacademy.com).
The Guinness world record for the most aluminum can tabs recycled in one year was set by the Mennonite General Hospital in Cayey, Puerto Rico, which has collected 2,783,788 tabs.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most plastic bottles recycled in eight hours: it weigh 8,799.9 kg (19,400.45 lb) and was achieved by Nestle Waters China Project WET in Shanghai, China
.
"My goal is to help other people, and I want to do it right," he said. "I am driven to helping kids."
According to the Des Moines Register, he is hoping to break a Guinness World Record by building the largest structure ever made from pull tabs.
He also is doing this project to raise awareness of the services the Ronald McDonald House provides.
The Ronald McDonald House recycles the pull tabs and uses the money to help pay for upkeep of the house, which provides a temporary home for families who have hospitalized critically ill children.
Mannebach, who served as a Boy Scout leader when he lived in Michigan, collected and recycled aluminum cans and pull tabs for years to raise money for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
