 Largest collection of model cars: Dr. Hank Hammer sets world record (PICS)

San Antonio, TX, USA -- Dr. Hank Hammer has 36,445 Model Cars (duplicates included), the majority being of the Porsche marque, that he has been collecting since 1968 - setting the new world record for the Largest collection of model cars (duplicates included), according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness world record for the largest collection of model cars contains 27,777 unique items and belongs to Nabil Karam (Lebanon).

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest collection of toy soldiers, set by Sergey Valentinovich Spasov (Russia), who has 661 different toy soldiers .

  Dr. Henry S. "Hank" Hammer, DDS has been collecting miniature model cars since 1968. To date he has accumulated over 36,000 models, the vast majority of which are Porsche cars.

  The World's Largest Collection of Model Cars has many rare and/or one-of-a-kind pieces that are being sold through this storefront, as well as our e-bay store.

  In addition, the collection houses a huge number of posters, photos, pictures, owners manuals, car brochures, videos and books, all related to cars, motor sports and of course, Porsche.

  The combined "Collection" now numbers in excess of 100,000 items.

  Over the years, major magazine articles, a coffee table book and several online videos have been produced documenting Hank's prodigious, one-of-a-kind Collection.

  The entire collection is now housed in separate, matching 3000+ sq. ft., 2-story homes, side-by-side in suburban San Antonio.

  The Hammer Toy Collection was originally conceived and started while he was serving in the U.S. Army.

  He and his wife eventually moved to Hawaii where he had an orthodontic practice for 26 years. In 1999, on his retirement from private practice, Hank moved the then existing collection to its current location.

  Today, in addition to model car collecting, Hank has another hobby, that being a singer in the Barbershop Harmony Society. He is also a certified Singing Judge and adjudicates competitions worldwide.

  Hank has "retired" from buying model cars and has concentrated his energies on singing, teaching at the University of Texas Health Science Center.
