 Largest collection of bagpipes: Danny Fleming breaks Guinness World Records' record (VIDEO)

GRIMSBY, UK -- Scottish Danny Fleming, 50, a police officer from Grimsby, Lincolnshire, has spent around £130000 on 105 sets of bagpipes; he started his collection at the age of 10 in 1973 and now his collection was recognized by Guinness World Records and also sets the new world record for the Largest collection of bagpipes, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

The Guinness World Records' record for the largest collection of bagpipes belongs to Daniel Fleming (UK) and consists of 105 bagpipes as of 24 October 2013, in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, UK. Daniel Fleming started his collection at the age of 10 in 1973. Each bagpipe in the collection is playable.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Largest collection of drumsticks autographed, set by Peter Lavinger of New York, New York, USA who has collated since 1980 over 1,300 drumsticks all of which have been played and handed to him by drummers representing various popular bands including Ringo Starr of The Beatles.

  Mr Fleming, originally of Arbroath on the eastern coast of Scotland, took up the bagpipes aged ten and racked up plenty of experience by serving in the Scots Guards for 24 years.

  The police officer now plays in Humebrside Police's pipe band, and has established himself as a bagpipe connoisseur with his 105-strong collection.

  His vast, £130,000 collection features models which date from as long ago as 1918, and includes a set of pipes set in gold, silver and ivory worth more than £12,000. 

  His most expensive set is set in gold and silver with ancient ivory. It has regimental battle honours engraved and the clan crest.

 "All bagpipes aren't made in Scotland," he said. "I got my most expensive ones made in the south of England by a special craftsman."

  There was no previous Guinness World Record for this category, but Guinness World Records have set a minimum requirement to take the very first record of 100 sets of bagpipes.

   The keen piper, who uses his talent to raise money for Macmillan, Help for Heroes and St Andrews Hospice by playing in charity events, also brought relief to his family by finding a more permanent outlet for his enthusiasm by joining Humberside Police's pipe band, the Mail Online reported.
