  Largest collection of Darth Vader memorabilia: Bill McBride sets world' record

WASHINGTON, DC, USA -- Bill McBride, 42, who has spent more than $270,000 on buying Darth Vader merchandise, has collected more than 60,000 items including figurines, artwork and replica lightsabers; he boasts the world's largest collection of Darth Vader memorabilia and is on a 20-year mission to turn his bedroom into a museum dedicated to the Sith Lord, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

The Guinness World Records' record for the Largest collection of Star Wars memorabilia was set by Steve Sansweet (USA), who has amassed an estimated 300,000 unique items at Rancho Obi-Wan in northern California, USA. As of 4 May 2014, "only" 92,240 items had been accurately audited and catalogued – a number sufficient, however, to beat the previous holder of this title by a factor of four.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest collection of Doctor Who memorabilia; it belongs to Ian O'Brien (UK) and consists of 1,573 items as of 6 September 2013, in Manchester, UK.

  He has loved George Lucas' sci-fi movie series since he was five-years-old, but only began collecting Vader keepsakes in the 1980s, The Daily Mail reports.

   He now plans to dedicate an entire room in his Washington DC home to storing the collection.

    Mr McBride, whose Darth collection contains everything from original movie props, pre-production items, original works of art and modern merchandise, said a 'market value' doesn't exist for some of his rarer items.
