The Guinness world record for Largest Collection of Board Games is 1,345 - set by Kentucky man Brian Arnett.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most surfers riding a single surfboard: 47 people who simultaneously rode a scaled up surfboard measuring 12 m (39 ft 4 in) in length at Snapper Rocks, Queensland, Australia .

"I always liked games. I started collecting them and filled up my closets," Bauspies said according to The Lake County News-Sun.

His collection started with "classic" family games like Monopoly. He started looking for unique games, like the Stick the IRS board game. After he ran out of storage space in his closets, he decided to finish his basement to house hundreds of games.

He even converted a spare bedroom into a game storage area. One section is dedicated to dozens of games based on TV shows and real people.

A rawhide chess/checker board and a French Scrabble game are among some of the more unique items in his collection.

He also owns an original Monopoly game from 1929. It has wooden hotels and no pieces. When the game was released, the directions suggested players use household items like thimbles to move across the board, Bauspies said.

  Modern sets come with pieces.
His Harley-Davidson Monopoly set and his King Tutankhamun chess set are his two favorites. He has about 20 different chess sets, including one from Hawaii and Greece.
