  Smallest paper money: Romanian 10-bani note sets world record

BUCHAREST, Romania-- The 10-bani note of the Ministry of Finance of Romania issued in 1917 (emergency WW I issue) measured (printed area) 27.5 x 38 mm (1.08 x 1.49 in) , setting the world record for the Smallest paper money, according to World Record Academy (www.worldrecordacademy.com).

The Guinness world record for the most expensive coin in the world is the 1933 Double Eagle, a $20-gold coin which was auctioned at Sotheby's, New York, USA on 30 July 2002 and fetched $7,590,020, including buyer's premium.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest collection of silver coins consists of 1,600 non-duplicate coins from around the world, and belongs to José Manuel Costa Lavín (Mexico).

  Romania 10 bani banknote printed area measured 27.5 mm x 38 mm. The banknote color is green and you can see the year issued with the word Romania.

  Of all of the banknotes every printed by Romania, the 10 bani note was the smallest denomination.

  The note is green or orange. Its obverse displays Ferdinand I of Romania, while its reverse displays the coat of arms of Romania.

  This banknote is not really a banknote ,it's more like a paper coin. It's a divisionary note (100 bani=1 leu ),and the guy from the note is King Ferdinand (1914-1927).

  King Ferdinand succeeded his uncle on the latter's death (Carol I of Romania died without surviving issue) as King of Romania on 10 October 1914, reigning until his own death on 20 July 1927.
