  Tallest stack of mattresses: Beds R Us breaks Guinness World Records' record (VIDEO)

Coffs Harbour, NSW, Australia -- An 18-strong mountain of mattresses took Beds R Us into World Record history at Park Beach Home Base; the new record, just shy of 4.5 metres (at 4.495 metres), surpassed the previous height of 4.16 metres set in the United States by Mattress Firm amd sets the new world record for the Tallest Stack of Mattresses, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

 The Guinness World Records' record for the tallest stack of mattresses measured is 4.14 m (13 ft 6 in) tall and was created by the Mattress Firm (USA) on 1 October 2011 at the Texas State Fair, Dallas, Texas, USA.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest human mattress dominoes; it was achieved by 850 participants (all USA), at an event organised by La Quinta Inns & Suites, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.

   An 18-strong mountain of mattresses took Beds R Us into World Record history at Park Beach Home Base.

  The new record, just shy of 4.5 metres (at 4.495 metres), surpassed the previous height of 4.16 metres set in the United States by Mattress Firm in 2012.

  This means it was roughly one extra mattress that made the record breaking difference, The Coffs Coast Advocate reported.

Afterwards, the mattresses, donated by Sleepyhead and Sleepmaker, were auctioned off to raise money for the Coffs Harbour Scout Group.

   Scout leader Braydon Gleeson said the group was trying to raise money for the 24th Australian Jamboree taking place in January 2016.
