  Tallest Lincoln Log structure: Nebraskans broke Guinness world record

LINCOLN, NE, USA -- A team of architects from DLR Group and students from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln completed a 12-foot-tall replica of the Nebraska state Capitol with more than 10,000 Lincoln Logs, setting the new world record for the Tallest Lincoln Log structure, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

The previous Guinness world record for the Tallest Lincoln Log structure was held by a structure built in March of 2010 measured 10'11″and used 2995 logs. That structure was built in Ottawa, Illinois.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the The tallest structure built with interlocking plastic bricks; it was 30.52 m (100 ft, 1 in) high and was constructed by the Stichting Limmen Ludiek (Netherlands).

   The massive structure measured 12'4″ when complete. The structure also broke the Guinness world record for the largest number of logs ever used in a construct requiring 10,036.

  The group of people who built the record-setting Lincoln log structure included a group of architecture students from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and an architectural group called the DLR Group.

  The build was challenging and required precision because one piece slightly off could lead to a big problem further up the tower.

  The entire built took over six hours to complete.
