Camford School students smash Guinness world record

Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India -- In an attempt to create awareness on protecting the country's national animal, highlight the decline in use of a once-vital medium of communication, and at the same time mark the Earth Day, the Camford International School students created the image of the tiger, spanning across 4,880 sq.ft. from 35,000 postcards of vivid colourful pictures of monuments, flora and fauna,
setting the new world record for the Largest postcard mosaic, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

 The Guinness world record for the largest postcard mosaic measured 27.5 m (90.22 ft) by 10.89 m (35.73 ft) and included a total of 20,020 separate postcards. It was created by students from the Institute for Tourism Studies - Class of MICE311, Macau, at the Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre. It had an area of 299.4 m² (3,223.51 ft²).

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest postcard; it measured 48.75 m² (524.74 ft²) and was achieved by the Deutsche Post and Toyota Car in Berlin, Germany.

  In an attempt to create awareness on protecting the country's national animal, highlight the decline in use of a once-vital medium of communication, and at the same time mark the Earth Day, celebrated on April 22, the Camford International School created the world's largest postcard mosaic of the Royal Bengal Tiger.

  In an effort that lasted for over six hours, the schoolchildren, 27 boys and 33 girls, created the image of the tiger spanning across 4,880 sq.ft. from 35,000 postcards of vivid colourful pictures of monuments, flora and fauna, collected in the past couple of months by the students of grade VII, VIII and IX.

  School correspondent Poongothai Arul Ramesh, said that while the school had the idea of making an attempt for world record, the theme 'Save Tiger' came from the students.
