  Largest hammock: Nova Scotia company breaks Guinness World Records' record (VIDEO)

HALIFAX, NS, Canada -- A small Nova Scotia company is trying to swing its way into the Guinness World Records with its new one-of-a-kind creation; Michelle Taggart, the owner of Bay Hammocks, wanted to have a massive hammock as the main attraction; the giant harnesses, which consist of 62 pieces of rope that are each 70 feet long, sets the new world record for the Largest hammock, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

  The Guinness World Records' record for the longest hammock was set by The Hessenstam Hattem of the Voerman Scouting Group; they unveiled a giant hand-knotted hammock measuring 2.5 m (8.2ft) wide and 129.29 m (424.17ft) long, in Hattem, Netherlands.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest beach towel; it measured 87.14 m (285 ft 10 in) in length and 25.20 m (82 ft 8 in) in width and was manufactured by Fateka S.L. on behalf of Compañía Cervecera de Canarias (Tropical brand).

It took more than a mile of rope to complete the gigantic hammock.

  Michelle Taggart, the owner of Bay Hammocks, bought the company less than a year ago and instantly knew she wanted to have a massive hammock as the main attraction.

 "We've had hundreds of people stopping by," she said.

 "Everybody is taking selfies, pictures of their families, multiple people getting into it.

 "We want the largest hammock as per scale to a normal hammock, so we duplicated it."
