 Largest cardboard box: York Container breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)

YORK, PA, USA -- Employees from York Container built the a giant cardboard box, as part of the company's 60th anniversary celebration; the box is 80-feet long and 40-feet wide and can hold three full size tractor trailers, setting the new world record for the Largest cardboard box; it took 8 engineers about 70-hours to design and prep the box and more than 60-plant employees came together to put it together,
according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .
The Largest Cardboard Box in the World measured 80 feet long, 30 feet wide and 13 feet high. That was big enough to envelope the 18-wheeler and eclipse the previous Guinness World Records world record set in September 2009 by employees of Chegg.com.

The previous Guinness World Records' record for the largest cardboard box was 6.12 m wide, 14.05 m long and 2.75 m high (20 ft 1.2 in × 46 ft 1.2 in × 9 ft 0.3 in) and was created by Chegg.com (USA) at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, USA, on 19 September 2009.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest cardboard box pyramid consisted of 51,963 perfume boxes which were stacked into 39 layers measuring 3 m (9 ft 10.08 in) tall and was achieved by Habchi & Chalhoub Co. and Fiesta Kuwait Co. (both Kuwait) in association with Paco Rabanne in Kuwait, on 15 September 2011.


 "It's just great to get all the folks out of the workplace and to get to meet their families and spend a little bit of time and get to know them on more of a personal level and it was a great team building experience to be able to break this record with them all today," said Troy Little, Director of Design.

   The World's Largest Cardboard Box is 80-feet long and 40-feet wide and can hold three full size tractor trailers.

   It took 8 engineers about 70-hours to design and prep the box and more than 60-plant employees came together to put it together.

   The record-setting attempt was part of a year-long celebration of York Container's 60th anniversary, said Steve Tansey, the company's president. York Container, which has 250 employees, makes corrugated cardboard boxes and cardboard store displays for customers including food and pharmaceutical companies.
