Largest K'NEX Sculpture: U.S. Space & Rocket Center sets world record
Hatfield, PA, USA -- K'NEX announced
that the U.S. Space & Rocket Center
is home to a giant K'NEX sculpture—a life size T-REX, (affectionately named K'REX); made entirely from 160,000 K'NEX pieces, the sculpture is 12.46 feet high, 33.76 feet long, 5.93 feet wide and weighs 10 pounds,
setting the world record for the Largest K'NEX Sculpture,
according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness world record for the tallest chocolate sculpture is a 10-metre-tall (32 ft 9.7 in) Christmas tree created by Patrick Roger (France) in Sceaux, France.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the tallest bottle sculpture; it is 11.90 m (39 ft 0.5 in) and was achieved by Tokiwa Fantasia Working Committee (Japan) at the Tokiwa Park, Ube, Japan.
Located in Huntsville, Alabama, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center is home to Space Camp and Aviation Challenge and is one of the most comprehensive U.S. manned space flight hardware museums in the world.
Working during their time off last summer, Space Camp crew trainers—headed by Wesley Smalls and Jarrad Bedwell—built the sculpture to replicate the recast of a Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton featured in the center's summer exhibit: "A T-REX named Sue".
"They used no blueprints or plans, no glue, just K'NEX," said Dr. Deborah Barnhart, the center's CEO and executive director.
Made entirely from 160,000 K'NEX pieces, the sculpture is 12.46 feet high, 33.76 feet long, 5.93 feet wide and weighs 10 pounds; making K'REX the "World's Largest K'NEX Sculpture."
"The U.S. Space & Rocket Center's team put their heart into this project we are thrilled their hard work and dedication has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records," said Michael Araten, president and CEO of K'NEX.
"Furthermore we are honored that they chose to use K'NEX to make this extraordinary creation!" K'REX is currently on display in the lobby of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center
's gift shop.
