  Furthest Leaning Man-made Tower  - The Capital Gate sets world record
   ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates -- The 35-story Capital Gate building, an office and hotel complex, developed by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company, has an 18-degree slope - setting the new world record for the Furthest Leaning Man-made Tower ( Most Inclined Tower in The World ).

The World's Furt hest Leaning Man-made Tower , owned and developed in the UAE capital by Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC), has been built to lean 18 degrees westwards -- more than four times that of the world famous Leaning Tower of Pisa.

   But unlike the tower in Pisa, the Capital Gate building has been deliberately engineered to slant.

    The floor plates are stacked vertically up to the 12th floor, after which they are staggered over each other by between 300 mm to 1,400 mm -- giving the tower its lean, the owners said.

    "It is a signature building which speaks to the foresight of the emirate," said Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon al Nahyan, the chairman of the building's owner, Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company.

    When completed by the end of this year, Capital Gate, designed by Britain-based international architecture firm RMJM, will house a five-star hotel and about 20,000 square meters of premium office space

    In January, Dubai -- one of seven emirates that make up the UAE -- unveiled the world's tallest skyscraper : the $1.5 billion, 160-story Burj Khalifa, which has a height of more than 800 meters (2,625 ft).
