 Longest Guitar Solo: David DiDonato sets world record (Video)

AUSTIN, TX, USA -- David DiDonato, a member of local band Modok and music instructor, broke the Guinness World Record after playing for 24 hours and 55 minutes at a local club called Red 7 , setting the new world record for the Longest Guitar Solo, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

  The previous Guinness world record for the Longest guitar solo was 24 hours and 17 minutes.

The Guinness world record for the largest guitar ensemble was achieved by 6,346 participants in an event organised by Thanks Jimi Festival, in Wroclaw, Rynek, Poland.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest music lesson; it involved 1,377 participants, learning how to play the guitar, at an event organized by the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

  Ex-Richmonder and current Austin, Texas resident, David DiDonato, broke the Guinness Book of World Records streak for the longest guitar solo of all time.

  The entire record breaking guitar solo, with breaks, was available for live viewing worldwide via UStream.tv and Gawker.com.

  David DiDonato played guitar for several underground Richmond bands back in the '90s, including Ultimate Dragons, Jolly Mortals and HRM. After moving to Austin, DiDonato played in the more-renowned bands of J Church and The Sword.

  DiDonato currently plays guitar in the band Modok in Texas and works as a music instructor.
