  Largest coffee mosaic art: DFS Hawaii employees set world record (VIDEO)

HONOLULU, USA -- To celebrate the upcoming Art of Hawaiian Coffee event at DFS Galleria Waikiki, DFS Hawaii employees created a giant a portrait of Elvis Presley from 5,642 cups of coffee with 10 different shades, measuring 16 feet wide, 25 feet long, which sets the new world record for the Largest coffee mosaic art, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The previous Guinness world record holder in the coffee mosaic category was the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority for The Rocks Aroma Festival in Sydney, Australia in 2009 with 3,604 cups of depicting the Mona Lisa.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest toast mosaic which measured 128.05 m² (1,378.31 ft²) and was achieved by Laura Hadland and with the help of 27 friends at Parr Hall, The Pyramid Centre, Warrington.

   The image of Presley is from his movie star days, during the filming Blue Hawaii (1961).

  At that time, the icon was 25 years old and looking his handsome, alluring best. DFS Hawaii staffers used a digital printout of the image as a guide for the placement of varying shades of coffee.

  Art of Hawaiian Coffee showcases Hawaii coffee growers and their specialty coffees. Hawaii is the only state in the union that grows coffee.
