  Fastest motorhome: Fiat Doblo breaks Guinness World Records' record (VIDEO)

Elvington, UK -- Creation Campers of Wrexham, a specialist in converting small vehicles into campervans, broke the land speed Guinness World recods world record for a motorhome on a windy day at Elvington Airfield near York; the vehicle, a Fiat Doblo conversion, clocked up an average speed of 141.3mph, setting the new world record for the Fastest motorhome, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

The Guinness World Records' record for the fastest speed achieved by a motorhome is 227.35 km/h (141.3 mph), by Simon Robins (UK) at Elvington Airfield in East Yorkshire, UK, on 21 October 2014.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the fastest caravan tow; iy is 228.523 km/h (141.998 mph) and was achieved by Jason Sands (USA) driving a GMC 2500HD and towing a standard Carson Kalispell at El Mirage Dry Lake, California, USA, on 23 August 2012. The only modification to the caravan was uprated tyres, the wheels and all other components were unchanged.

   The vehicle, a Fiat Doblo, was worked on for the best part of 12 months by Creation Campers co-owner, Simon Robins. The original diesel engine had already expired and was taken out and replaced with one from a Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo, which was tuned to provide a jaw-dropping 337bhp.

  It wasn't just an engine and a sleeping bag in the back though, the Doblo was fitted out with a kitchen with two hobs and a sink, a toilet and a bed area.

   On the day itself, two runs were required, one into the wind and one with it behind, in order to produce an average that was then compared to the existing world record of 138.7mph. The average speed of 141.3mph was declared a new world record by Guinness World Records.
